Into the Swing of Things

Still working on the blog(s). I think we'll be putting Una's POD up via Berch's blog since Blogger doesn't seem to have as nice of an interface for albums.

Since I last posted, Una's pretty much the same. Oh, Berch fell on top of her while she was hanging out in the the single most important piece of baby gear anyone could ever own - the Vibrating Chair. Berch rounded a corner and SPLAT - fell right on top of Una's torso. Otherwise, she's pretty awesome. Today I am forgoing my exercise class because I need to finish my freelance gig and we need to make a Costco/Monterey Market run. Tres glam, I know.

Look to the right for the addition of The Daily Una, a tracker of how often she sleeps, nurses, pees and poops. I started it for the blog, but I've got to say - it's very helpful to see how her feeding are spacing out, how often (or not - bad mama) I'm changing her diaper. That sort of thing. It's kind of like taking the ideas of Edward Tufte and applying them to the three big rules of babies - diapers, sleeping and feeding. Check it out - see if Una is sleeping right this very moment!

Welcome to the New World Blog

Or, Highlander Country. For those of you who don't understand the name of the blog, let me tell you a little story about a movie called Highlander. I can't stand it; Guy LOVES it. And it seems to be on USA or Bravo or TNT all the time. I'm not going to go into the plot of the movie here, but there was a tagline that became very popular - and THAT is where the name of Una's blog comes from. Stupid, but true.

And so we return to blogging. You can refer to the archives of Berch's Blog if you'd like to understand better why I took an extended hiatus from all things blog. In a nutshell, it got to be a real drag dealing with people who started trolling my blog, looking for my "missteps." So now I hope that they've gotten bored with my inactivity and I can start it all back up again.

In Una news, DAMN she is cute. Not sure how Guy and I make cute kids - I mean, we both consider ourselves to have mediocre looks at best. But our kids? Kind of cute, I think. And I still have no idea what having a girl is "really" about - she's still fairly larval with a few smiles mixed in. And she did heartily laugh in her sleep last night, which was really cute to watch.

Blog is still being built, so be gentle about the kludgy-ness in these forst few weeks. I mean, I have two kids and am trying to work on some freelance gigs. Oh yeah, and I'm trying to exercise my stomach and ass back to something resembling normal. Nothing like sitting in a Pilates based class with all these 5' 10" super-thin and toned women to remind you of exactly HOW overweight and out of shape you really are (the answer is: Holy Crap Very Very Very).
